Beverly Family Session | Louisville, KY Portrait Photographer
Last Spring this mom found out about me by winning a giveaway on a local forum called The Mommy Nest. She used it for a session with her and her two adorable kiddos. She came back this Spring for a full family session and I’m so glad she did! We met up at a private orchard and had a sunlight filled session! The kids loved seeing the wildlife wandering about, like some Wild Turkeys and a Kitty that was a big hit with the kids! This is such a sweet and adorable family! But, enough chatter… here are some of my favorite shots from our session!

The Gibsons – Lifestyle Maternity Session | Louisville, KY
I have so much I want to say about this family…. it’s hard to put it all into words! They are just the most fun loving and beautiful family.
We began our session in their home to capture some lifestyle images. I have to say, their dog is awesome. He was so patient and obedient and such a loving member of the family. I am happy we were able to get him in some of the images too!
After that, we hopped to the park next door for a few more pictures. They spend so much of their time at this park during the warmer months. It was so nice to capture a few images at a place meaningful to this family. It’s literally just a hop, skip, and a jump away from their house!
And the cherry on top… we headed over to The Comfy Cow for some ICE CREAM! Mom told me she had a major sweet tooth during this pregnancy and I wanted to capture that in a fun way!I don’t know who was most excited for this portion of our session. Mama had a gleam in her eye while she watched her ice cream getting scooped and Big Sister AG was on tippy toes anxiously awaiting her treat. Oh… that AG was so funny too… She even photobombed a shot of her parents! I love her! She was pretty excited about that picture and wanted to see it on the back of the camera as soon as I took it. Such. A. Sweetie.
But, my FAVORITE part of the whole session was hearing Mama tell another customer: “I’ve eaten so many sweets, my baby will come out candy coated! ” Well, I can’t wait to meet that little M&M! She sure will be sweet!
I loved every minute spent with this family and am so thankful I was given the privilege of capturing this special time in their life.
Crawford Family | Louisville, KY Photographer
For two years I have been photographing the Crawford family. I met the dad in “Fishing Club” 15 years ago in Middle School, so when we were walking to our first location and I heard dad mention to his oldest boy how “we’re going to a pond, but don’t have our fishing poles”, it just threw me back at how much time has passed. I had a big smile on, inside and out, thinking about how much life has changed and how lucky I am to be friends with them. I’m so thankful my friend found such a wonderful wife and that we get along like peas and carrots. Their boys are 11 months apart and have such personalities, which are always evolving. One just turned two and the other will be 3 next month! How mom does it, I’ll never know. She does it beautifully though and has 3 wonderful men in her life.
I can’t wait to photograph them again!
Adkins Family Portraits | Louisville, KY Photographer
Back in May I photographed this super sweet family for little Liams 1 year portraits. Time flies mighty fast and the next thing we knew we were back on their family farm in a lot warmer clothes for Liams 18month and their fall family portraits! A little different scenery than our last session, but still a beautiful and meaningful location!
Fall Family Portraits | Louisville, KY Photographer
One of my favorite sessions to date. It’s hard to pinpoint why it’s my favorite. The beautiful fall colors, the fun and adorable family, the fact that this is a fellow photographer and I know how much these images mean to her. As a photographer, you’re used to being behind the camera, always the one capturing the moments, but at times, you wish you could just be a mom and in the picture too. I was so happy (and nervous!) to be able to take these portraits for Amber.
Check out some of Amber’s (AE Photography) beautiful work here.
Baby Dylan | Lifestyle Newborn Portraits Louisville, KY
This fall I had the absolute pleasure of getting my “baby fit” with this snuggly lil bubba. I’ve photographed his family a few times now and they are so amazing. Such a fun and loving family! Baby Dylan was pure perfection. Thanks Stephanie and Matt for having me out again to capture your beautiful growing family!
What to Wear Breakdown!
I’ve been putting together the wardrobe for MY families fall portraits this year! Thought I’d share with you all.
At first, I started picking things that were more “fall”ish color wise, brown, magenta, orange, etc. But, I looked around my house and I have lighter colors, so I wanted to coordinate a little with my house. Might sound odd, but the portraits will look great with my decor all year long!
I started with my sons outfit. I found the shirt for him in his closet that had some nice colors in it, so I knew I could pull from it for the rest of us. I just bought him new jeans for school, so his entire outfit was already in the closet. My husband was an easy one to knock out too, just needed to get him a new shirt, and he looks great in blue. Bam. Done. Oh, and he’s a Khakis guy and I don’t want him to complain the entire session about wearing jeans. Easy Peasy.
My daughter has a cute little jean skirt already, and brown leggings which would help tie into my sons outfit. She was actually the hardest to find something for. All the shirts were “graphic” shirts or more deep “fall” colors which didn’t work with what I was going for. Then, I found the cute little sweater vest at Old Navy, looked for a yellow long sleeve tee. Done.
Lastly, me. I always recommend to wear what you feel comfortable in. For me, that’s skinny jeans, tall boots, and an open front cardigan. I actually found the yellow scarf online at Old Navy before I went looking for the rest. I thought it’d be the perfect accessory to tie it all in. Especially since I don’t really wear jewelry. I only have a grey cardigan, so I knew I’d need to get a new one! Aw, shucks.
So, I scoured the internet and found one at Kohls that I liked and worked color wise. I’ll just put a little brown tank under it and I’m done too!
So, all in all. With what we already owned, and the things I needed to buy to put it all together… we ended up at about $80 for the entire family. Not too shabby, huh? Best of all, they are all pieces we can use throughout the season, not just for portraits.
Sisters Maternity Portraits
This summer my best friend came up for a visit from Florida. She’s pregnant with her second… and so is her sister!! I’m so happy to have been able to capture this time for both of these gorgeous mommas!!
A. Family Portrait | Louisville, KY Photography
The adorable A. family brought me to their family farm for their portrait session. I couldn’t have been happier to photograph them in a place that means so much to their family. The mom had grown up on this farm and they are surrounded by their family… just a short walk down the gravel road in the wagon.
After their family portraits, we had a little cake smash in front of an old barn to commemorate little L’s first birthday! He’s a handsome little man. And baby feet… oh how I love baby feet.
