This sweet, sweet, little man was such a great sleeper! He was just so calm and happy awake or asleep! And, he has an adorable big sister with the most beautiful eyes. She was so sweet and gentle with her little brother, it was adorable watching her with him! It was great to work with this family and capture these fleeting moments.

The B Family – Mother and children session!

Kristin came to me from a local mommy forum, The Mommy Nest. She had won a giveaway and decided to use the session for her daughters 1yr portraits and to get some portraits of her and her children as well. As moms, we all know how LITTLE we are in the pictures at home… I practically have to beat my husband over the head to get him to take a picture of me with the kids. So, I was more than elated that she wanted to join in on the fun and be a part of the session. She is an absolutely sweet and beautiful momma.

The weather had warmed up enough in March for us to do the session outside, so we had some fun just walking around, playing, and exploring.
At the end of the session, we broke out some cake and let little Kylie go at it! (Don’t worry, our GQ man Colton got a special treat too on the side lines during the cake smash… he’s such a sweet big brother.)

It’s amazing how much can change in a month… at our session Kylie wasn’t walking quite yet and when I dropped off their order… she was running around with her big brother! I’m glad we were able to catch some of the wobbly first steps as that phase passes way to quickly!

Oh, and moms… when I ask you to dress up for your child’s session… it’s for a reason. :) You deserve to be in front of the camera too.

G Family Lifestyle Maternity Session

I had such a wonderful time photographing this family. Miss Bella was just absolutely adorable, and had no desire to partake in the session. About normal for a child her age. Lifestyle sessions really take the stress out of that situation though and capturing Bella in her own environment was so fun. And guess what… she’s going to be a big sister! Her mom was absolutely glowing, cliche I know, but oh so true! And the spark between momma and dad was red hot! Lots of love in those eyes. This was really just an amazing session where we all laughed the whole time through. Enjoy! ♥

OK, so tell me little Miss Bella isn’t just the most stunning child ever!? She’s so beautiful! I want to photographer her again and again! I can only imagine her little sister will be just as beautiful!  :)

Wow… it’s been over a month since I’ve posted a blog post. Whoops. :) That just shows how crazy I’ve been lately with sessions, editing, and family time! I think the busy season has officially begun!

I’ve had some WONDERFUL sessions though, which I can’t wait to share with you all over the next few weeks as I catch my breath. I realized tonight that I still haven’t posted this session from last month, the follow up to this Maternity Session. It was such a relaxed session, I swear little miss didn’t cry the whole time I was there! I seriously love lifestyle sessions for how relaxed they are. Especially when I can catch some in-between moments, like feedings, changing, etc. But, most of all, I love capturing the real expressions and interactions.

I am still incredibly in love with this little girls nursery. (You can see more details of it in the Maternity blog post) She was such a tiny little thing, all the newborn clothing just swallowed her! She has a sweet big sister, that wanted to read books while her baby sister had a bottle, so she popped herself onto one of the stools and read to us all. Just the cutest little girl. She also was thrilled when baby sistor held onto her fingers (yes, I misspelled sister on purpose, mom will get it ;) ) . *melt* I can tell these two are going to be inseparable pretty soon.

When I first saw this nursery, it looked like something out of a magazine. All the little touches were there, top to bottom, and it was all just so beautiful. I was so excited for this maternity session! We had a good time laughing and talking about babies and the beautiful nursery, most importantly… where things came from… like that Mirror. Oh, and the baby arrived last week, so now I get the joy of photographing the newborn soon too!!! (Keep your eyes peeled for those images in the next couple weeks!)

During our session, I also took a few moments to photograph Big Sister Lucy in her darling room! Pinks and purples and just sugary sweet! Just as sweet at the little girl herself. She’s quite the smart cookie and had a whole repertoire of songs to sing for me!

A few fun titbits from the session:

They were between two names for the baby, and when searching for a letter for the wall collage they could find one and not the other. So, the letter F on the wall was the deciding factor in the name game! I love hearing how names were chosen.

Some of the books, like “Hippos Go Beserk” were well loved and passed down from big sister Lucy. “Hippos Go Beserk” was actually one of Lucy’s favs that had to be read every night. If you’re a parent… you know how awesome and tiring it is to read the same book, over, and over, and over again. :)

Red Thread Sessions Family Photographer | Louisville, KY

I’m so very happy to announce that I’ve been chosen to be a volunteer photographer for Red Thread Sessions! This is an organization that  allows adoptive families to a free session fee with one of their volunteer photographers. Adoption is so difficult for everyone involved, emotionally and financially, so I’m thrilled to be a part of an organization that is helping with both of those difficulties.

I have known a few families that have adopted, including one of my cousins. But, most recently, a wonderful friend of mine has gone through adoption after not being able to have children biologically. I have cried many times for her, and with her, through the past couple years of this process. It’s really hard to describe the ups and downs that come with adoption, but the best up there can be is when the adoption is finalized. I have felt so blessed to be a part of my friends journey and to photograph her new little bundle of joy. I cannot wait to give more families beautiful memories of their recent adoption too!

Why  the name “Red Thread” Sessions?

The Ancient Chinese Proverb is a commonly-used saying within the adoption community. It symbolizes the bond that all adoptive children have with their adoptive parents, even before they meet. An invisible “red thread” connects them to the people they are destined to meet. Although this Proverb truly relates to all people, it has a particularly strong connection to adoptive families and seemed like the perfect name for this organization.

For more details on Red Thread Sessions, visit their website or contact me!  If you know anyone that has adopted or is going through the process, pass along this info to them!

Toddler Lifestyle Portraits

18 months have flown quickly by. I cannot believe in 6 more months this cutie pie will be 2yrs old. Gosh. Someone, please stop time!!

These are her little loveys… Baby, Kitty, and Teddy. All of which are needed (along with paci and blankie) for this one to go to sleep. She has a big heart and the things she needs to love on keeps growing. :)

Had to document this little moment in our life. To soothe herself, she needs a belly. Hers, mine, she’s not too picky, but when she’s really sleepy and a little upset… she goes digging for a belly button.

I have no words. I ♥ her. I imagine I’ll get a lot more looks like this in 10yrs ;)

But, until then… I’ll take as many of these faces as I can.
